Like most products we try, I picked these Fruffalo Wings up from Whole foods on a whim. After getting them home and checking out the packaging, I realized these aren’t at all “chicken” wings – Field Roast has god beyond that. Instead of being disappointed by yet another mediocre chicken imitation, we were met with an entirely original concept: fried sausages drenched in hot sauce.
I get it. It sounds like a bizarre combination, but it’s kind of insane just how well these flavors and textures work together. These FRuffalo Wings are juicy, spicy, greasy, and just as perfectly messy as real hot wings. They’ve been a delightful addition to our Football Sunday finger food menu.
Even if you’re not a fan of sausage or hot wings, these are so uniquely their own food that I SERIOUSLY recomend you try them regardless.
Field Roast’s FRuffalo Wings come in 10oz bags, containing 14 wings total, along with a pouch containng 3oz of Buffalo Sauce. The FRuffalo Wings must be stored frozen.
We purchased this product from our local Whole Foods for $8.79/bag. We have seen them occasionally for $5.99/bag, so it’s worth watching for sales.
Remove sauce pouch from bag and place in a bowl of warm water to defrost. Heat 1Tbl of oil in a nonstick frying pan over medium heat. Cook FRuffalo Wings and stir for about 5 minutes until wings begin to brown. Remove pan from heat and carefully empty content of sauce pouch into frying pan and stir to coat.
**Note: Be careful adding the sauce packet to the pan. If your oil is still too hot it can spatter pretty easily.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place FRuffalo Wings on baking sheet and heat for 15 minutes. Place content of sauce pouch into a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for one minute. Alternatively, place sauce in a small saucepan and cook over medium heat until just bubbling. Pour heated sauce into a medium sized bowl, ad the heated FRuffalo Wings and toss to coat.
